Trusting God
We are finite, but God is infinite. We must always remember that. There are things that have happened, and will happen, that we just don’t understand. That is OK. We should just trust God and know that everything is happening for a reason. God has a plan, we just don’t know what that plan is.
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
That is the essence of inner peace. Just “Let go, Let God”. Don’t try to do it all yourself. Turn it over to God and trust Him, knowing that He will make sure things happen the way he intends them to.
When I was in Iraq, I had a picture under the plexiglass on my desk. It was a picture of two penguins facing each other. One of the penguins had a paper sack over his head. The caption read, “Relax, God is in charge.” That little cartoon gave me a smile every time I saw it. Whatever the circumstance it gives me peace knowing that God is indeed in charge.
With God, all things are possible. Nothing is too big, or too small for God. He wants you to pray and tell Him what you need / want (even though He already knows it). Remember that God always answers prayers, but sometimes the answer is no, or not now.
Matthew 14: 29-20 “Come, he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out ‘Lord, save me!’ If you see an opportunity, go for it. Get “out of the boat”, and trust in God. He’ll be with you.
God speaks to us everyday, through the people He has put in our path, and the situations we encounter. Take the time to realize that. Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
Living the Faith of the Centurion is an action, not a destination. I wrote my new book Work Hard Pray Hard: The Power of Faith in Action, to highlight that very fact. Everyday God expects us to do our very best. Work hard in whatever you do. He also expects us to pray hard, and ask Him to be with us. When we do that, things are so much easier.
My book becomes available on 4 April 17, but is available now on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites. I hope you enjoy it.
