Over the past two days Sarah and I have had the privilege of being in the presence of true American heroes, our Nation’s first responders. I spoke to members of the Temple, Texas Police Department and the Fort Hood, Texas first responders…primarily to tell them thanks. Their courage and dedication to duty is remarkable. Every day they risk their own lives to serve and protect others. Our time with them was especially poignant today, the 18th anniversary of the attack on our Nation on 9/11. Please make it a point to stop our Nation’s first responders and just tell them thanks. Shake their hand, give them a hug, buy them a meal. Let them know we appreciate them and their service. It’s the right thing to do.
