We should all be concerned about what is going on in our Nation these days.  Last night we had over 500,000 of our people sleeping on the street because they are homeless. We have had over 300 school shootings since 2013.  30% of American Families are single parent.  Our divorce rates have now exceeded 50%.  20 people per minute are subject to domestic violence.  There are 570 cases per day of sexual harassment across the US.

I am absolutely convinced that the way we turn our Nation around is if we adopt a general theme that we are going to take care of our people.  That includes everyone, all the time.  As the Bible tells us in Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ”.  We should wake up, everyday, and focus on helping each other.  It will make all the difference.

I believe it all starts in the home.  We must raise our children in an environment where they focus less on what is it in for them, and more on how can they help someone else.  We must talk with our kids.  Take the time over dinner to discuss the day’s activities, and plan Family events.  Leave the iPhones and the iPads in the some other room.  Let’s be with them, and demonstrate service to others by being a lifestyle evangelist.

Service to others must be the theme in the schools.  Let’s work with the school systems to advocate selfless service.  Let’s make it a requirement to serve others with extracurricular activity.  Let’s compensate teachers and school administrators adequately so they can truly focus on taking care of those children entrusted to their care.

Then it gravitates to the work environment. Is thee corporate headquarters demonstrating the importance of taking care of others.  Is giving one of the major values of the company?   Is there a time for philanthropic activity?  Does the company intentionally share some of their profits with those less fortunate?

On top of all this is the government (local, state and federal).  Do we have programs and policies in place that truly provides for the people?  Healthcare, Benefits, Retirement, Low Wages programs?

Over the next several months I am going to use this blog to advocate ways we can truly take care of our people.  I look forward to the dialogue, and subsequent actions.
